A lot of Bollywood famous celebs came out to support the society and so as fresh face of Bollywood Alia Bhatt.
Alia is among the eight faces of Girl Rising -- Woh Padegi Woh Udegi- plan together with Priyanka Chopra, Parineeti Chopra, Frieda Pinto, Sushmita Sen, Madhuri Dixit and Nandita Das. Mahesh Bhatt’s little princess even offers her voice for gal named Yasmin.
9xe. com got a rapid Q&A program with Alia, listed below are the excerpts:
Do you think you contributed in the welfare of women by doing Highway?
The cause we were trying to talk through Highway was to bring the issue of a physically abused girl inside her own house which is so disturbing, but a harsh reality which we don’t want to face. I got a chance to play this character in Highway and while preparing for it I understood how a girl who has gone through such a nightmare would feel. After watching Highway, many girls came to me and told me that they have opened up and learnt to speak up about their horrendous experiences.
How do you contribute apart from this campaign?
In the past I had contributed for 20 girls and even now I am contributing. And in my family, my mom pays education fees of the kids of sweepers, cleaners, drivers and all helpers. We observed they don’t send their daughters to school, so we decided to do something about it. Strangely, they send their sons to schools without fail. Such things are common in our society. I want to run my house like my mother.
What was Mahesh Bhatt’s reaction when you took this campaign?
He tells me to make optimum use of my popularity whatever I have- little or big. He has told me to use the popularity in the right direction and not only for my movies and for myself.
